User talk:Rr
From Open Watcom
I don't know if anyone ever looks at these user pages, but I have decided to put a few lines here just in case. My nationality is Norwegian, but a lot of my time has been spent in Fortaleza, CearĂ¡, Brazil during the last few years. Which have forced me to learn enough Portuguese to be able to handle daily life in that language, in addition to those I already knew. I used to be a professional software developer and later manager in the software industry. But I burned out in that profession and decided to look for a new life in a very different place. I had been on two holidays to this area before I decided to spend more serious time here, so I already knew this was the place I wanted to be :-)
Professionally it is not so easy to come to a new country, and since I had decided to go for something else anyway, there has been a lot of things to learn. I am currently involved in projects working with tourism, restaurants/bars, business consulting, investment, real-estate and so on. Since I am the guy who has most computer background, I normally end up with web-sites for the companies as well. A couple of examples are FortaTours tours trips and events in Fortaleza, and later I will also build up a site for CEANOR, which is my business consulting service for other new foreigners coming to this part of Brazil.
I have been interested in the OpenWatcom project since before it went open source. I have contributed a few bug fixes and updates here and there (mainly for WIN32 GUI), but I do not have much time for that anymore. I follow the newsgroups when I have time, and offer a little support when a question comes up that I can easily answer. It is really impressing to see how far along the effort has moved, and the huge increases in the quality and reliability of the tools over the years since they were open sourced.
A tip of the hat from me to all contributors, new and old! Roald
